Becoming and Being Human within Multispecies Communities: Towards Respectful Coexistence

9–11 June 2026 | Oulu, Finland

The Summer School 2026 is hosted by and celebrates the 10th anniversary of the AniMate research collective based at the University of Oulu. The event will take place on 9–11 June 2026 in Oulu, Finland. This three-day event explores what it means to be human in entangled, multispecies worlds. Through keynote lectures, nature walks, and creative workshops, participants will engage with diverse perspectives from environmental humanities and social sciences, education, and the arts. The program invites reflection on ecological interdependence, multispecies justice, and the transformative potential of education and artistic practice in cultivating respectful coexistence with more-than-human communities.
